Q: How does the calculation work?
A: Whenever a payment is made, it runs through the following procedure:

  1. The interest is calculated for the time between the previous payment and the current payment, and is applied to the totals.
  2. If there is a balance of Additional Costs, the payment is applied to it.
  3. If there is a balance of Post-Judgment Costs, the remainder of the payment is applied to it.
  4. If there is a balance of Costs Interest, the remainder of the payment is applied to it.
  5. If there is a balance of Costs, the remainder of the payment is applied to it.
  6. If there is a balance of Judgment Interest, the remainder of the payment is applied to it.
  7. If there is a balance of Judgment, the remainder of the payment is applied to it.
  8. If there is a remainder now, the user is notified that the debtor has paid too much.
The payments are calculated "on-the-fly" each time the account detail screen is brought up, so payments and costs can be entered in any order without fear of mis-calculations.

Q: Can Judgmentcalc handle variable interest rates?
A: Yes. There are three options for handling interest:

  1. Static Interest Rate - The interest rate does not fluxuate over time.
  2. Variable Interest Rate - The user inputs dates and rates of interest specifically for a certain debtor profile.
  3. Default Variable Interest Rate - The interest rate is set by the Bank of Canada Prime Rate.
A debtor profile can be changed from one method to another after setup in case of error.

Q: How about additional costs incurred?
A: Judgmentcalc allows for Additional Costs with interest rates that are either static, variable input by user, default set by the Bank of Canada Prime Rate, or matching that of the judgment.

Q: What if I'm not completely satisfied?
A: We will gladly refund that month's fees and any pre-paid dues.

Q: What kind of support is available?
A: Email support is free. You can contact us for email support at
support@judgmentcalc.com.

Telephone support is also available, and the first two problem incidences are free. You can reach our support department at (416) 822-4482, D'Bugz Computer Solutions, Inc. Simply ask for Judgmentcalc Support.

Q: Do I need Internet access to use Judgmentcalc?
A: Yes. Our servers are only accessable across the Internet, at http://www.judgmentcalc.com.

Q: Are my files secure?
A: Yes. Each of your debtor profiles is accessable only using your username and password - nobody else has access to your files. However, you must ensure that nobody else has access to your username and password to protect your privacy.

Q: I'm getting a Denied Access message when I try to log on.
Check to make sure that your username and password are being entered correctly - they are case sensitive (meaning that the username "BobLoblaw" is treated differently than "bobloblaw"). If you still feel there is an error occuring, contact our support department at
support@judgmentcalc.com and we will investigate the problem.
